Electrotherapy involves harnessing electrical energy for medical purposes.

Within the realm of medicine, electrotherapy encompasses a diverse array of treatments, encompassing the use of electrical devices.

This terminology is also specifically associated with the application of an electric current to speed up the healing of wounds. Moreover, the terms "electrotherapy" and "electromagnetic therapy" have been linked to various alternative medical practices and devices.

The applications of electrotherapy are extensive, including muscle spasm relaxation, prevention and reduction of muscle wastage, enhancement of local blood circulation, muscle rehabilitation, and re-education through electrical muscle stimulation.

It aids in maintaining and expanding the range of motion, managing persistent and unmanageable pain, alleviating acute pain following trauma or surgery, promptly stimulating muscles post-surgery to prevent venous thrombosis, supporting wound healing, and facilitating drug delivery.

Having used muscle stimulation in clinic for over 20 years , the results are really exciting.  When using exercises to recover from surgery or injury, it's not possible to recruit enough muscle fibres due to pain or discomfort, and it can be a challenge to exercise strongly enough.

With muscle stimulation it's possible to recruit up to 100% of the muscle fibres in the recovering muscles.  This allows the whole of the muscle to recover before using it for activities or sports.
